Key Responsibilities
As an Assistant Technical Officer, you will support the technical teams in various tasks essential for water resource management. Your duties will include:
- Field Work and Data Collection:
- Perform all field work, including clearing survey areas and collecting data.
- Ensure the safe keeping of equipment, including boats and vehicles.
- Support technical teams in all survey activities.
- Equipment Maintenance:
- Maintain technical equipment for survey teams.
- Prepare and load equipment into vehicles for trips.
- Monitor vehicle service due dates and cleanliness.
- Administrative Support:
- Pack, clean, and sort the storeroom for technical equipment according to Health and Safety specifications.
- Ensure all relevant preparations are completed for each trip.
Requirements
To be eligible for this Assistant Technical Officer position, candidates must meet the following qualifications and experience:
Educational Qualifications
- A Senior / Grade 12 certificate with Mathematics / Mathematics Literacy.
Skills and Experience
- Computer literacy.
- Basic knowledge in handling survey/technical equipment.
- A valid, unexpired driver’s license.
- Good communication skills (written and verbal).
- Good interpersonal, planning, and execution skills.
- Willingness to travel long and irregular hours in remote areas when necessary.
- Ability to perform administrative duties.
- Willingness to learn new skills to adapt to a dynamic working environment.
- Swimming/water safety skills are an advantage.
