South Africa’s unemployed youth have a fresh opportunity to build a better future. The Department of Basic Education has launched Phase 5 of the Presidential Youth Employment Initiative (PYEI) under the Basic Education Employment Initiative (BEEI). This programme is designed to empower young people by offering Education Assistant paid positions in public schools across the country.
If you are between the ages of 18 and 34, currently unemployed, and not studying, this could be the chance you’ve been waiting for. Successful applicants will take on roles as Education Assistants or General School Assistants, contributing meaningfully to their communities while gaining valuable work experience.

Whether you’re helping learners read, supporting teachers in classrooms, or assisting with administrative or technical work, your presence in the school makes a real difference.
