    Position Overview

    The Administration Intern position at UKZN offers a unique chance for individuals to gain exposure to a wide range of administrative functions, specifically in the student academic administration sector.     Key Responsibilities

    • Customer Service: Provide high-quality service to students and staff by addressing inquiries and assisting with various administrative processes.
    • Students Records Administration: Maintain and update student records, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality of information.
    • Ad-hoc Administrative Duties: Assist with additional administrative tasks as needed by the department, contributing to the overall efficiency of operations.

    Interns will be integrated into the day-to-day workings of the Student Academic Administration division, gaining hands-on experience in a professional academic environment. The role offers the chance to develop a range of essential skills in office administration, communication, and teamwork.

    Minimum Requirements

    To be eligible for this internship, applicants must meet the following criteria:

    • Qualification: Applicants must hold a degree in Public Administration or a related field at NQF Level 7.
    • Status: Only unemployed graduates are eligible for the programme.
    • Age: Applicants should be between 18 and 35 years of age.
    • Availability: Candidates must be available for the full 24-month duration of the internship.
    • Experience: No prior full-time work experience in the related field of study is required. The internship is specifically aimed at providing experience to those who are new to the workforce.

    Competencies and Skills

    In addition to meeting the basic eligibility criteria, successful candidates will need to possess certain competencies and skills to thrive in this role. These include:

    • Basic Computer Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Email, is essential.
    • Effective Communication: Interns must have strong written and verbal communication skills to interact with students, staff, and other stakeholders.
    • Interpersonal Skills: The ability to work effectively as part of a team and engage with others in a professional manner is crucial.

    Remuneration and Contract Details

    The successful candidate will be offered a fixed-term contract for the duration of the internship, with a monthly stipend of R6,500. It is important to note that this internship is SETA-funded, and while it provides valuable work experience, it does not guarantee permanent employment upon completion.
