    About the Gauteng Film Commission (GFC)

    The Gauteng Film Commission (GFC) is a non-profit company (NPC) operating under the Gauteng Provincial Government’s Department of Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation (DSACR). Its primary role is to develop, promote, and coordinate the film and television industry in Gauteng. The GFC is responsible for positioning the province as a global hub for filmmaking while attracting both local and international investment into the industry.

    6. Film and TV Production Directing Internship

    Graduates who have studied:

    • Film Production or Cinema Studies, majoring in:
      • Arts Management
      • Applied Film and Television Studies

    7. Camera Operation Internship

    Candidates with a National Diploma or Degree in:

    • Film Production, specializing in:
      • Story Structure
      • Lighting
      • Camera Operation
      • Editing

    8. Technical Work Internship (Gaffer, Best Boy)

    Graduates with qualifications in:

    • Film/Media Studies
    • BA Degree in Film Production, majoring in:
      • Camera Operation
      • Lighting

    9. Virtual Work/Operations Internship (Make-up, Wardrobe, Production Set Design)

    Candidates with a National Diploma or Degree in:

    • Film/Media Studies
    • BA Degree in Film Production

    Eligibility Criteria

    To qualify for the internship programme, applicants must meet the following requirements:

    • Must have a Matric (Grade 12) or an equivalent qualification.
    • Must hold a Tertiary qualification (Diploma or Degree) at minimum NQF Level 6.
      • Note: TVET graduates must have completed their Work Integrated Learning (WIL) and obtained their diploma.
    • Must be unemployed and available for the full internship duration.
    • Must be 35 years of age or younger.
    • Must be a South African citizen.
    • Must not have participated in any previous Internship Programme.

    3. Certified Copy of South African ID
      • Certification must be no older than six (6) months
