    About the Gauteng Film Commission (GFC)

    The Gauteng Film Commission (GFC) is a non-profit company operating under the Gauteng Provincial Government’s Department of Sport, Arts, Culture, and Recreation (DSACR). Its mission is to position Gauteng as a world-class destination for film and television production, attracting local and international investment while supporting emerging talent in the sector.

    Through various initiatives, the GFC fosters innovation, promotes local storytelling, and ensures the growth of the province’s creative economy.

    Internship Opportunities Available

    The Gauteng Film Commission is inviting suitably qualified graduates to apply for internship positions in the following fields:

    1. General Office Administration

    • Qualifications: National Diploma or Degree in Business Administration, Business Management, Human Resource Management, Public Management, BCom Finance, Cost Management Accounting, Auditing, or a related field.

    2. Projects and Permits Administration

    • Qualifications: National Diploma or Degree in Project Management, Monitoring and Evaluation, Business Administration, Visual Arts, Film and TV Production, Motion Picture, or a related discipline.

    3. Marketing and Communications

    • Qualifications: National Diploma or Degree in Marketing and Communications, Public Relations, Graphic Design, Visual Arts, or a relevant field.

    4. Film and TV Production

    • Qualifications: National Diploma or Degree in Film Production, specializing in Film Producing with modules in Scriptwriting, Editing, and/or Cinematography.

    5. Script Writing and Management

    • Qualifications: National Diploma or Degree in Film or Media Studies, or a BA Degree in Film Production, with a specialization in Scriptwriting, Creative Writing, or Media Writing.

    6. Film and TV Production Directing

    • Qualifications: National Diploma or Degree in Film Production or Cinema Studies, specializing in Arts Management and/or Applied Film and Television Studies.

    7. Camera Operation

    • Qualifications: National Diploma or Degree in Film Production, focusing on Story Structure, Lighting, Camera, and/or Editing.

    8. Technical Work (Gaffer, Best Boy)

    • Qualifications: National Diploma or Degree in Film/Media Studies or BA Degree in Film Production, specializing in Camera Operation and Lighting.

    9. Virtual Work/Operations (Make-up, Wardrobe, Production Set Design)

    • Qualifications: National Diploma or Degree in Film/Media Studies or BA Degree in Film Production.

    Eligibility Criteria

    To qualify for the GFC Graduate Internship Programme 2025, applicants must meet the following requirements:

    • South African citizen
    • Matric (Grade 12) or an equivalent qualification
    • Tertiary qualification (Diploma or Degree) at NQF Level 6 (TVET graduates must have completed their Work Integrated Learning (WIL) and obtained their diploma)
    • Unemployed and available for the full duration of the internship
    • 35 years old or younger
    • Must not have participated in a previous GFC internship programme
