Industrial Development Corporation Bursaries Eligibility Criteria:
- The IDC Bursary is exclusively for first qualification and undergraduate studies; funding for second qualifications and postgraduate studies will not be provided.
- Postgraduate funding is limited to applicants studying Finance, Accounting, and Law.
- Applicants must be South African citizens under the age of 26.
- Preference will be given to applicants from Quintile 1, 2, and 3 schools (rural schools) and previously disadvantaged communities.
- The bursary is intended for applicants whose parents’ combined household income does not exceed R600,000 per annum. An affordability assessment will form part of the selection criteria.
- Preference will be given to applicants living with disabilities.
- Matriculants must have achieved a minimum of 75% in their Admission Point Score (APS).
- Tertiary level applicants must have a minimum of 65% APS (submit most recent academic results/transcript with application).
- Applicants must be enrolled or admitted to study at a South African Public University, University of Technology, or TVET College.
Requirements:
- South African applicants must provide a recently certified copy of their Identity Document, issued within the last 6 months from the date of application.
- Applicants must submit their 2024 mid-year (first semester) results or the latest academic results if not currently studying (applicable to gap year applicants).
- A recently certified copy of Grade 11 results or the current year’s Grade 12 June results is required.
- Applicants must include a provisional acceptance letter or admission letter from the institution they plan to attend.
- Recently certified copies of both parents’ Identity Documents, issued within the last 6 months, must be provided.
- If the applicant’s surname differs from that of the parent(s), a recently certified copy of the unabridged birth certificate is necessary.
Documentation verifying parents or guardians’ household income:
- Recently certified copy of the latest pay slip if employed.
- Recently certified copy of 3 months’ bank statements reflecting income if employed or self-employed.
- An affidavit is required if unemployed, stating annual income.
- Recently certified copy of 6 months’ bank statements if unemployed.
- Recently certified copy of SASSA letter indicating received grants if applicable.
- Recently certified copy of Parent(s) death certificates if the parent(s) are deceased.
- Recently certified copy of divorce certificate if parents are divorced OR a sworn statement from one parent if separated.
Industrial Development Corporation Bursaries Perks:
The IDC bursary will cover the following expenses:
- Full tuition fees for the approved course of study.
- Full fees for on-campus accommodation and meals, based on institutional rates.
- A capped amount towards off-campus university-accredited accommodation.
- A capped amount for a self-catering meal allowance.
- A capped amount for a transport allowance to facilitate commuting.
- Provision of a laptop, provided once during the bursary period.

Applications must be completed online, and applicants are required to upload clear copies of all necessary supporting documents (photographs will not be accepted) and complete the interview questionnaire.
