Job Purpose
The primary role of a Pharmacy Sales Assistant is to ensure the smooth operation of in-store retail functions. The successful candidates will be responsible for assisting customers, processing payments, preventing shoplifting, arranging visual displays, and ensuring an organized and efficient sales floor.
Key Responsibilities
Candidates appointed to this role will be expected to fulfill the following duties:
- Handling Customer Payments: Processing transactions using the store’s Point of Sale (POS) system, ensuring that sales and receipts balance in line with company procedures.
- Customer Assistance: Greeting customers warmly, identifying their needs, and offering product recommendations that best suit their requirements.
- Stock Management: Restocking items, maintaining well-organized shelves, and ensuring compliance with merchandising standards.
- Visual Merchandising: Ensuring that product displays are appealing and arranged in an orderly manner according to the company’s standard operating procedures.
- Price Audits: Conducting regular price checks to identify and correct pricing discrepancies.
- Promotion Awareness: Keeping up to date with all in-store promotions and special offers to inform customers accordingly.
- Shoplifting Prevention: Monitoring customer activity and ensuring that security measures are upheld to prevent theft.
- Customer Query Handling: Addressing customer concerns promptly and escalating queries to higher management when necessary.

Minimum Requirements
To qualify for the position, candidates must meet the following essential criteria:
Educational Qualification
- A Grade 12 qualification is required.
Work Experience
- A minimum of five months of point-of-sale (till point) experience in a retail environment.
- Proven experience in retail sales and customer service.
Skills and Knowledge
- Computer literacy is essential.
- Ability to communicate fluently in both Afrikaans and English.
- A friendly, engaging, and approachable personality.
- Understanding of various payment procedures, including cash, cheque, bank card, credit card, coupons, and vouchers.
- Knowledge of stock-receiving procedures and merchandising standards.
- Strong grasp of customer service principles to ensure a positive shopping experience.
