Plumber Minimum Requirements
To be eligible for this position, candidates must meet the following essential requirements:
- A Grade 12 / Matric certificate.
- 2 to 5 years of previous plumbing experience.
- A Plumbing Trade Certificate obtained from an accredited institution.
- Experience in a warehouse environment.
Advantageous Qualifications
While not mandatory, the following qualifications and experience will provide an added advantage:
- A Qualified Artisan certificate.
- Additional experience in a warehouse setting.
Job Responsibilities and Duties
The successful candidate will be responsible for various plumbing-related duties that ensure efficient water and drainage systems at the Midrand facility. These include:
Plumbing System Installations and Maintenance
- Interpreting blueprints and building specifications to determine pipe layouts, drainage systems, and other essential plumbing materials.
- Testing plumbing systems for leaks and other faults, troubleshooting problems, and using appropriate tools and materials for repairs.
- Selecting materials based on budget, location, and specific building requirements.
- Repairing or replacing broken drainage lines, clogged drains, faucets, and other fixtures.
Inspections and Repairs
- Conducting routine inspections of plumbing systems to identify worn-out parts.
- Locating and marking pipe connections and passage holes in walls and floors.
- Ensuring all defects are repaired timeously and safely.
- Using pressure gauges and other equipment to test and fix leaks.
Equipment Installations
- Installing and maintaining various plumbing fixtures, including sinks, toilets, water heaters, and pipes.
- Setting up supports for pipes, equipment, and fixtures before installation.
- Assembling fittings and valves for effective plumbing operations.
Compliance and Reporting
- Adhering to all health and safety regulations as outlined in plumbing codes.
- Preparing reports related to plumbing incidents and summarizing actions taken.
- Maintaining daily logs of maintenance, installations, and repairs.
- Compiling labour and material estimates for small plumbing-related remodeling projects.
Collaboration and Administration
- Liaising with external contractors when necessary.
- Assisting with office administration tasks, including preparing quotations and work assessments.
- Participating in on-call arrangements to handle emergency plumbing issues.
Required Skills and Competencies
