    About the Social Development Worker Position

    The Social Development Worker will work closely with tenants, social development officers, and other stakeholders to promote independent living and social cohesion. The primary responsibilities of this role include:

    • Conducting research and designing social cohesion programs to strengthen community relationships.
    • Implementing awareness campaigns that foster unity, engagement, and tenant participation.
    • Providing administrative and tenant support services to ensure a comfortable and well-structured living environment.
    • Assisting Social Development Officers (Social Workers) in delivering support and interventions for vulnerable individuals, families, and communities.
    • Staying informed about policy changes, White Papers, and Acts governing social work services in South Africa.
    • Managing various community-based projects and initiatives simultaneously.

    Although the role is based in Pinelands, it requires engagement with tenants across all Communicare residential complexes in the Western Cape.

    Required Qualifications and Experience

    To qualify for this role, candidates must meet the following education and experience requirements:

    • Matric qualification with a Social Auxiliary Work Certificate (Level 4).
    • Experience in community and social services work.
    • Experience in managing and executing multiple projects simultaneously.

    Essential Skills and Competencies

    Applicants should also demonstrate the following skills:

    • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English and at least one other official language commonly spoken in the Western Cape.
    • Ability to research, design, and implement social development programs.

    • High level of computer literacy, including proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook).

    Professional Registration and Licensing Requirements
