    Minimum Requirements

    To be considered for the role, applicants must meet the following academic and experience criteria:

    • A 3-year National Diploma (NQF Level 6 equivalent) in Auditing, Accounting, Internal Audit, or Risk Management.
    • A minimum of 1-2 years’ experience in risk management or auditing.

    Applicants must also possess strong knowledge of the following:

    • Gauteng Provincial Government (GPG) and Gauteng Provincial Department of Roads and Transport (GPDRT) policies and procedures
    • Relevant legislation and Public Service Regulations
    • Public Finance Management Act (PFMA)

    • Financial accounting principles and auditing standards

    Key Responsibilities

    The appointed Administrative Officer – Internal Control will play a crucial role in supporting the Office of the CFO by ensuring strong internal controls within the department. Responsibilities will include:

    1. Audit and Risk Management:
      • Coordinating the implementation of audit recommendations.
      • Conducting internal control assessments.
      • Analyzing and documenting potential risks and mitigation factors within the department.
      • Conducting statistical analysis to quantify internal control deficiencies for each business unit.
    2. Internal Control Strategy and Compliance Monitoring:
      • Developing, implementing, and maintaining internal control strategies and procedures.
      • Compiling an internal control profile on significant risk exposures.
      • Coordinating compliance monitoring regarding policies, processes, and procedures.
      • Reviewing financial information before submission to the Gauteng Provincial Treasury (GPT).
      • Reviewing Supply Chain Management (SCM) compliance.
    3. Audit Support and Administrative Functions:
      • Supporting and facilitating the annual Auditor-General of South Africa (AGSA) audit process.
      • Providing administrative support to the unit.
      • Compiling findings reports on identified internal control deficiencies and making recommendations.
