    Credit Controller (Pre-Legal) Position Overview

    As a Credit Controller (Pre-Legal) at Vega School, you will play a crucial role in managing the financial health of the institution by ensuring that overdue debts are minimized and payment arrangements are effectively negotiated and maintained. This position reports directly to the Pre-Legal Team Leader and is based at the Durban campus.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Administration and Collections:
      • Handle administrative duties related to credit control, including assisting with student registrations across campuses.
      • Focus on collecting overdue accounts, particularly during the first quarter of the academic year.
      • Negotiate payment terms with account payers and secure Acknowledgements of Debt, with approval from the Pre-Legal Team Leader.
      • Achieve daily call output targets (20-30 quality calls) to ensure monthly collection goals are met.
    • Customer Service:
      • Foster strong relationships with students and account payers through clear and consistent communication.
      • Address and resolve complaints, escalating issues to the Pre-Legal Team Leader when necessary.
      • Manage queries on the IIE Assist platform promptly.
    • Quality Management and Reporting:
      • Maintain accurate records and documentation on the Excalibur system.
      • Analyze financial data to inform decision-making and resolve account discrepancies.
      • Ensure timely escalation of accounts requiring S129 Notices and other legal actions.

    Competencies and Skills

    • In-depth knowledge of credit control processes, accounts receivables, and financial documentation.
    • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, essential for interacting with internal and external stakeholders.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills with a customer service-oriented approach.
    • Analytical and problem-solving abilities, with sound numerical skills.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly in producing basic financial reports.
    • A friendly, organized, and ethical individual with strong time management skills who can work under pressure.

    Requirements

    • Minimum Qualification: Matric with a Credit Management, Bookkeeping, or Financial qualification being advantageous.
    • Experience: At least 2 years of experience in credit control is required.

    Working Hours and Salary

    • Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:00 – 17:00.
