Key Responsibilities
1. Project Management:
- Oversee books from manuscript to print, ensuring timelines and quality standards are met.
- Coordinate with authors and freelancers to facilitate smooth project execution.
2. Editing and Proofreading:
- Edit manuscripts for clarity, coherence, and adherence to editorial guidelines.
- Conduct thorough proofreading to eliminate errors in grammar, punctuation, and style.
3. Commissioning and Catalogue Compilation:
- Assist in commissioning e-books and verifying content accuracy.
- Compile the JBP catalogue and ensure content alignment with marketing strategies.
4. Liaison and Support:
- Collaborate with publicity and marketing teams, providing necessary information and materials.
- Contribute to identifying commercially viable book concepts aligned with market trends.
Requirements/Experience:
- Relevant tertiary qualification in a related field.
- Minimum 2-3 years’ experience in editorial roles, preferably in publishing.
- Proficient in English editing and writing; candidates may undergo a writing test.
- Passion for South African stories, particularly in non-fiction genres.
Skills and Competencies:
