    The Department of Employment and Labour has officially opened applications for its 2025 Graduate Internship Programme, offering unemployed South African youth an opportunity to gain practical experience in various fields. The internship runs for 24 months and includes a monthly stipend of R7,450.62.

    Internship Programmes Available

    1. Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Internship

    • Total Posts: 3,812
    • Monthly Stipend: R7,450.62
    • Requirements:
      • National Diploma (NQF6) or Bachelor’s Degree (NQF7) in Environmental Health, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Construction-related Engineering, Occupational Health, Hygiene, Analytical Chemistry, Explosives Management, or Explosives Engineering.
      • A valid driver’s license is required.
    • Duties: Interns will assist in workplace inspections, enforcing the Occupational Health and Safety Act, investigating incidents, and providing administrative support.

    2. Basic Conditions of Employment (BCEA) Internship

    • Total Posts: 3,727
    • Monthly Stipend: R7,450.62
    • Requirements:
      • National Diploma (NQF6) or Bachelor’s Degree (NQF7) in Labour Relations, BCom Law, LLB, or Labour Law.
      • A valid driver’s license is required.
    • Duties: Responsibilities include conducting compliance inspections, investigating complaints regarding violations of the BCEA, and supporting inspectors.

    3. Employment Equity (EEA) Internship

    • Total Posts: 513
    • Monthly Stipend: R7,450.62
    • Requirements:
      • National Diploma (NQF6) or Bachelor’s Degree (NQF7) in BCom Law, LLB, or Labour Law.
      • A valid driver’s license is required.
    • Duties: Interns will help with Employment Equity Act compliance inspections, investigating complaints, and supporting inspectors.

    4. Employer Audit Service (EAS) Internship

    • Total Posts: 1,948
    • Monthly Stipend: R7,450.62
    • Requirements:
      • National Diploma (NQF6) or Bachelor’s Degree (NQF7) in a relevant field.
      • A valid driver’s license is required.
    • Duties: Interns will conduct employer audits, ensure compliance with employment laws, and assist in investigations.
