The Construction Education and Training Authority (CETA) is seeking a Finance Administrator: Financial Accounting to join its dynamic team in Midrand. Job Purpose and Profile
The Finance Administrator: Financial Accounting is responsible for providing financial and administrative support to the Financial Accounting Unit. The successful candidate will assist in ensuring seamless execution of financial processes, contributing to the overall strategy of the organisation. This role is ideal for a professional with a keen eye for detail, strong organisational skills, and the ability to work in a structured financial environment.
Key Responsibilities
The role encompasses finance, administration, compliance, and stakeholder engagement. The Finance Administrator will be required to perform the following key duties:
Administrative Support
- Manage and coordinate office communication, including emails, calls, and correspondence.
- Work closely with the Finance Officer and Financial Accountant to prioritise key business issues.
- Develop and maintain an annual meeting planner for the business unit.
- Coordinate and organise meetings, ensuring agendas, minutes, and supporting documents are prepared.
- Attend meetings and track follow-ups on key action points.
- Assist in the preparation of business presentations and financial reports.
Financial and Document Management
- Assist in the capturing and maintenance of financial records and database integrity.
- Coordinate and verify invoices and supporting documents from business units.
- Support the preparation of financial reports for submission by the Financial Accountant.
- Help process payroll payments as per schedules received from Human Resources.
- Ensure financial documents are stored securely, retrieved efficiently, and archived confidentially.
- Assist in implementing risk and compliance measures in financial administration.
Compliance and Risk Management
- Ensure adherence to CETA policies, financial regulations, and governance frameworks.
- Support internal and external audit processes with accurate record-keeping and evidence submission.
- Participate in training sessions on fraud prevention, compliance, ethics, and risk management.
- Report any suspicious or fraudulent activities as per organisational protocols.
Stakeholder Engagement and Team Collaboration
- Maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including CETA officers and executive teams.
- Attend industry-related forums, conferences, and training workshops to enhance knowledge and best practices.
- Assist stakeholders by providing guidance and directing inquiries to relevant departments.
Operational Efficiency and Business Improvement
- Provide input in enhancing financial processes and templates to improve efficiency.
- Assist in budget monitoring to ensure compliance with allocated operational costs.
- Maintain and update CETA’s financial policies and procedures to align with current regulatory standards.
Desired Skills, Experience, and Competencies
To be considered for this role, candidates should meet the following qualifications and experience requirements:
Education and Qualifications
- Matric/Grade 12.
- Diploma in Finance or a Bachelor’s degree in Financial Accounting.
- Eligible for professional registration with SAIPA, SAIBA, SAICA, or AT(SA).
Experience and Additional Requirements
- 2-3 years of experience in finance administration or a related field.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Strong financial acumen, attention to detail, and analytical skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Excellent organisational and negotiation skills.
- High ethical standards and professionalism in financial matters.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
Remuneration and Benefits
CETA offers a market-related salary package that includes benefits, structured according to its Remuneration Policy. The appointment is for a long-term period, contingent on performance and CETA’s operational requirements.
