    Rand Water is looking for an Industrial Inspector to conduct thorough investigations and inspections of industrial effluents discharged into the municipal sewerage system.     Minimum Requirements

    To be considered for this position, applicants must meet the following criteria:

    • Education: A three-year National Diploma in Environmental Management, Water Care, or Analytical Chemistry.
    • Experience: At least 3-5 years of experience in industrial effluent monitoring and inspection.
    • Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
    • Other: A valid driver’s license and willingness to drive long hours.

    Primary Duties

    As an Industrial Inspector, you will be responsible for:

    • Inspection and Monitoring: Conducting inspections and monitoring industrial effluents discharged into the sewerage system.
    • Sampling: Taking samples of effluents for chemical analysis in the laboratory and monitoring high-effluent industries.
    • Tariff Calculations: Assisting the Bulk Sanitation Technologist in calculating assessed tariff charges for municipalities.
    • Coordination: Planning, coordinating, and liaising with industries, municipal departments, consultants, and government departments.

    Knowledge

    The ideal candidate should have sound knowledge in the following areas:

    • Industrial effluent and sewage treatment processes.
    • Water chemistry, industrial processes, and waste minimization.
    • Environmental and pollution control legislation and trade effluent by-laws.
    • Government legislation, including the National Water Act 1998 and NEMA.
