Key Responsibilities
The Junior Business Process Engineer will be involved in several key areas:
Business Process Mapping and Documentation
- Process Documentation: Utilize tools like Microsoft Visio, PowerPoint, and Excel to document existing workflows and develop new operational methods.
- Needs Analysis: Conduct needs analysis with business owners to understand requirements, input, handoffs, and output of processes.
- Design Workshops: Lead process design workshops with process owners and stakeholders.
- Process Mapping and Compliance: Create detailed process maps following Business Process Model and Notation (BPMN) standards, incorporating compliance and regulatory requirements.
- Centralized Repository Maintenance: Maintain a repository of processes and supporting artifacts such as procedures and templates.
- Evaluation and Improvement: Conduct thorough evaluations of existing processes to identify inefficiencies and recommend improvement solutions.
Process Improvement Implementation
- Continuous Improvement Culture: Promote a continuous improvement culture within the organization.
- Process Control: Establish process control measures, such as Statistical Process Control (SPC), to ensure consistent quality.
- Workflow Management: Design and implement strategies that enhance workflow efficiency and productivity.
- Process Compliance: Conduct audits to ensure processes comply with established standards and work to continuously improve these processes.
Work Measurement, Data Collection, and Analysis
- Time Studies and Data Gathering: Conduct time studies to understand the efficiency of production processes, identify bottlenecks, and gather data for improvement.
- Work Procedure Analysis: Use data to make informed decisions on productivity enhancements, revise capacity models, and recommend changes.
- Root Cause Analysis: Participate in cross-functional teams to address process deviations and root-cause issues.
Research Best Practices and Innovation
- Industry Research: Stay updated on industry best practices and technological advancements in process engineering, including competitor analysis and customer need identification.
Stakeholder Collaboration and Support
- Stakeholder Engagement: Actively engage with stakeholders to understand business needs and provide support through training and guidance on new processes.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure process compliance and consistent implementation.
Reporting
- Progress Reporting: Provide regular updates on progress, maintain high standards of accuracy, and ensure timely submission of reports.
- Audit and Compliance Reporting: Prepare detailed reports highlighting performance metrics, non-conformances, and compliance-related findings.
- Process Dashboards: Develop and maintain dashboards for productivity and efficiency tracking across departments.
Qualifications and Requirements
Ideal candidates will bring a mix of technical skills, relevant experience, and a drive for continuous improvement. The position requirements include:
- Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree (NQF Level 7) in Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related discipline. An honors degree is highly desirable.
- Experience: 3-5 years in process improvement, business analysis, or a related field, with a solid understanding of process management principles.
- Process Mapping Skills: Proficiency in process mapping tools such as Microsoft Visio, and familiarity with BPMN standards.
- Process Improvement Knowledge: Certification in Lean, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies is an advantage.
- Technical and Analytical Skills: Ability to interpret data, identify deviations, and suggest improvements.
- Process Automation Insight: Knowledge of automation tools, such as Robotic Process Automation (RPA) or industrial automation, is beneficial.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively engage stakeholders.
