Role Purpose
The Maintenance Operator plays a key role in ensuring that all maintenance plans and tasks are carried out efficiently. This position requires a hands-on approach, with the primary responsibility of maintaining the Virgin Active club premises, equipment, and facilities in excellent working order. By upholding high safety and hygiene standards, the Maintenance Operator contributes to a clean, functional, and welcoming environment for members.
The ideal candidate is expected to be adaptable, proactive, and detail-oriented, ensuring that all tasks are completed according to the company’s regional standards. Additionally, the role involves administrative duties related to maintenance, such as stock control, reporting, and record-keeping.
Key Responsibilities
1. Executing Maintenance Plans and Tasks
The Maintenance Operator is responsible for identifying and addressing maintenance-related issues within the club. Daily responsibilities include:
- Checking job books, fitness checklists, and MOD (Manager on Duty) checklists to identify faults.
- Completing tasks outlined in the RAP sheet while adhering to brand standards and deadlines.
- Responding to breakdowns or incidents within the required turnaround time.
- Attending daily maintenance meetings with the Maintenance Technician/Manager to receive instructions.
- Conducting preventative maintenance and service plans to avoid potential issues.
- Handling repairs and maintenance of fitness equipment, premises, and outdoor areas.
The Maintenance Operator must ensure that all tasks are completed efficiently and within given timelines.
2. Maintaining Health & Safety Standards
Safety is a priority in a fitness club, and the Maintenance Operator must comply with Occupational Health & Safety (OSH) regulations by:
- Practicing good housekeeping and maintaining a clean, safe, and hygienic workspace.
- Ensuring proper storage of tools, consumables, and equipment.
- Familiarizing themselves with OSH regulations and seeking guidance when necessary.
- Reporting any hazardous conditions or safety risks immediately.
By maintaining a safe and well-kept environment, the Maintenance Operator contributes to a better member experience.
3. Assisting with Maintenance Administration
Apart from hands-on repairs and maintenance, the Maintenance Operator also plays a role in administrative tasks, ensuring smooth operations. Duties include:
- Stock Control:
- Monitoring frequently used maintenance consumables.
- Reporting stock replacement requirements to management.
- Reporting & Documentation:
- Completing pool logs to monitor water quality and safety.
- Filling out downtime reports to track maintenance performance.
- Updating job books by marking off completed tasks.
- Completing preventative maintenance checklists to ensure ongoing efficiency.
This administrative aspect ensures that maintenance processes are well-documented and efficiently managed.
Minimum Requirements
