    Factory & Cost Accountant Job Description

    As the Factory & Cost Accountant, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with all financial procedures in the factory. You will manage and control new systems, drive cost-saving initiatives, and conduct profitability and variance analyses. Your key duties will include accurate costing throughout the manufacturing process, variance analysis, stock reconciliations, month-end reporting, and managing bills of materials (BOM).

    Minimum Requirements

    • Education:
      • Diploma in Cost & Management Accounting
      • CIMA Managerial Level
    • Skills and Experience:
      • Advanced knowledge of mathematics and statistics.
      • Understanding of cost accounting principles, standards, and methodologies.
      • Strong financial analysis skills.
      • Ability to prepare financial reports and provide recommendations based on data.
      • Understanding of production processes and ability to conduct variance and analysis of production orders.
      • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in FMCG/Manufacturing.
      • Ability to perform risk and security assessments.
      • Excellent attention to detail.
      • Effective communication skills, including writing, speaking, and active listening.
      • Collaboration and teamwork capabilities.

    Key Duties and Responsibilities

    Cost Accounting

    • Create, amend, and manage Bills of Material (BOM).
    • Translate formulations into BOMs.
    • Create and maintain cost estimates and generate monthly reports for the CFO.
    • Understand product costing and cost products from receipt supplied (marginal, ABC).
    • Determine scrap factors and generate production reports using expenditure data.
    • Upload new standard costs and release cost estimates in SAP.

    Internal Controls and Analysis

    • Understand the production process and manage TECO, ERTR, REL, CLSD.
    • Handle production GRV and consumption, including monthly balancing accruals.
    • Analyze production order variances and report monthly to the CFO.
    • Maintain and analyze standard cost methodologies.
    • Review the WIP account daily.

    Factory Collaboration

    • Work with factory staff (warehouse, production, production planning, etc.).
    • Lead factory staff and assist with correct process flow.
    • Report and present on slow-moving and obsolete stock as well as provision adjustments.
    • Present weekly on factory non-conformances and financial adjustments.

    Projects and Ad Hoc

    • Assess capital projects and ROI.
    • Perform ad-hoc duties as required.
    • Manage financial and accounting software used by the company.

    Financial Accounting

    • Approve GL accounts and cost centers on purchase requisitions.
    • Assist in checking and signing off creditors’ reconciliations.
    • Create assets in SAP.
    • Process monthly journals.
    • Handle audit queries related to inventory and cost of sales.

    Reports

    • Generate production, sales, PPV, inventory turnovers, and manufacturing costs reports.
    • Conduct monthly spend analysis reports.

    Inventory

    • Check and sign off daily cycle counts adjustments.
    • Investigate high variances with warehouse team members.
    • Organize, coordinate, participate, and complete the annual stock take.
