In an effort to empower South Africa’s youth and promote inclusive development, the National Gambling Board (NGB) is inviting qualified, unemployed graduates to apply for its 2025 Internship Programme. With a focus on legal and financial disciplines, this 12-month initiative offers young professionals the rare opportunity to gain valuable work experience in a reputable public institution.
Located in Hatfield, Pretoria, the NGB Internship Programme will run for a full year, starting in 2025. Interns will receive a monthly stipend of R12,000, enabling them to support themselves while learning on the job. The internship is non-renewable, emphasizing the NGB’s commitment to preparing interns for broader opportunities in the workforce.
What Internships Are Available?
The NGB is offering internship placements in two critical areas of its operations: Finance (Supply Chain Management) and Legal Services. Each field is tailored to align with the candidate’s academic background and career ambitions.
1. Finance (Supply Chain Management)
- Reference: NGB/Int 001-2025
- Qualification Required: National Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics or Supply Chain Management
This position will provide the intern with practical exposure to procurement processes, contract management, and the overall logistics chain in a government-regulated environment.
2. Legal Services
- Reference: NGB/Int 002-2025
- Qualification Required: LLB or Bachelor of Laws
Legal interns will be exposed to the interpretation of gambling laws, policy development, and legal compliance processes. This is a unique opportunity for law graduates interested in regulatory and administrative law.
Who Can Apply?
To be eligible for the internship programme, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Be a South African citizen
- Be currently unemployed
- Have completed a tertiary qualification in the relevant field
