Key Responsibilities
As a pharmacist at the Mondeor branch, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Patient Care & Medication Management:
Evaluate patients’ medication needs, ensuring the safety, effectiveness, and appropriateness of prescribed therapies. Dispense medication accurately and provide detailed instructions for proper usage. - Prescription Management:
Check and validate prescriptions prepared by assistants or interns, ensuring compliance with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC) guidelines. - Pharmaceutical Services:
Provide information and advice regarding medication usage and potential side effects. Implement pharmacist-initiated therapy when necessary. - Compounding & Supervision:
Manage the compounding, manipulation, preparation, and packaging of medications as required. Oversee these activities to ensure compliance with safety standards. - Stock Control & Procurement:
Assist in managing the purchasing, storage, and distribution of medicines, and report stock issues to the Dispensary Manager. Facilitate bi-annual stock takes and maintain up-to-date registers in line with legislation. - Medical Aid & Claims Management:
Process paperwork for claims, resolve script rejections, and ensure proper authorisation for chronic, HIV/AIDS, and oncology medication. - Customer Service:
Offer excellent service at the dispensary, self-medication counter, and front-shop. Advise customers on their health and medication needs, and follow up on queries.
Minimum Requirements
To be considered for this position, applicants must meet the following criteria:
Essential Qualifications & Skills
- Grade 12/Matric Certificate
- BPharm or equivalent qualification
- Registered with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC)
- 2-3 years of pharmaceutical experience (internship or retail pharmacy experience included)
- Computer literacy, particularly with MS Office
Advantageous Qualifications & Skills
- Previous experience in retail or FMCG environments
- Knowledge of a third language
- Familiarity with SAP and E-scripting
- Experience with Unisolv software
- Registered tutor status
