Professional Nurse (Specialty Stream) Role Requirements:
- Education Requirements: Matriculation certificate or equivalent.
- Basic R425 qualification (diploma/degree in nursing) or an equivalent qualification enabling registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Registered Nurse.
- Current registration with SANC as a Nurse (General, Community & Psychiatry) and Midwifery.
- Experience Requirements: Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in nursing as a Professional Nurse.
- Additional Qualifications: Must possess an additional qualification in Nursing Education.
- Advantageous Qualifications: A post-basic nursing qualification in Perioperative Nursing (Theatre Nursing) or Critical Care Nursing would be advantageous.
Responsibilities:
- Training and Development: Contribute to the training and development of staff and students within the institution. Teach clinical nursing practices aligned with scope of practice and nursing standards as per protocols.
- Supervision and Assessment: Accompany, supervise, and assess nursing staff to ensure clinical competence.
- In-Service Training: Develop and implement in-service training programs for continuous professional development.
- Clinical Standards Development: Collaborate with other clinical facilities and nursing education institutions (NEIs) to develop or review clinical nursing standards.
- Clinical Audits and Research: Conduct clinical audits and participate in clinical research activities.
- Support for Clinical Placements: Support NEIs accredited for clinical placements of students within the institution.
- Supervision of Preceptors: Supervise and provide support to preceptors involved in student training.
- Role Modeling and Management: Serve as a role model for professionalism and competent nursing practice. Manage own workload and time effectively.
- Budget and Asset Control: Ensure effective budget control and management of assets within the department.
