Job Overview
As a Registered Nurse specialized in Cardiac ICU, your role will involve providing top-notch care to critically ill patients. The successful candidate will:
- Provide quality nursing care to critically ill cardiac patients

- Participate in stock control and financial management within the CICU

Key Responsibilities
- Financial Management:
- Accurately record and manage CICU billing by ensuring that all clocking time, consignment stock, equipment, and prosthetics are correctly charged according to hospital policies.
- Participate in regular stock-taking and control consignment stock to ensure resources are managed effectively.
- Equipment & Instrumentation:
- Oversee the proper usage of cardiac ICU equipment by educating and supervising nursing staff on the correct utilization of theatre equipment and instrumentation.
- Patient Care:
- Gather detailed patient information pre-operatively and ensure their comfort throughout the surgical process.
- Assist in post-operative care to ensure the patient’s swift recovery.
- Ensure all interactions with patients are conducted with compassion and adherence to nursing ethics.
- People Management:
- Assist the Unit Manager in monitoring work schedules, including normal and overtime hours.
- Provide specific training related to cardiac care, assess the competence of the team, and ensure that all nursing staff work within their scope of practice.
- Offer constructive feedback to optimize team performance.
- SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality) Management:
- Ensure compliance with ISO standards and personal protective equipment requirements.
- Oversee the correct disposal of medical waste to maintain infection control protocols within the ICU environment.
- Stakeholder Relations:
- Maintain professional relationships with internal stakeholders through active participation in meetings.
- Manage relationships with external stakeholders by escalating any unresolved issues to the Unit Manager for prompt resolution.
Qualifications & Experience
To be considered for this role, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Educational Background:
- Matric (Grade 12) National Senior Certificate.
- A relevant degree or diploma in nursing, specializing in cardiac care.
- Experience:
- Prior experience working in a Cardiac ICU is essential.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills are critical for building relationships with patients and team members.
- Personal Attributes:
- A team player with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to thrive under pressure.
