Internship Overview
The SAMPRA Development Fund seeks two interns who have completed a qualification in Music, Public Relations, or a related field from an accredited institution. These individuals should be eager to develop their skills while making significant contributions to the South African music scene. The internship provides an opportunity to work directly in various essential areas within the music industry, including Marketing, Public Relations, Production, and Artists & Repertoire.
Key Responsibilities of the Interns
Interns will be fully immersed in the day-to-day operations of KUMISA, which serves as a hub for nurturing South African musical talent. Throughout the 12-month internship period, the selected individuals will work across several key areas, gaining hands-on experience in:
- Marketing: Assisting with promotional campaigns and learning how to market music effectively in a competitive industry.
- Public Relations: Building and maintaining relationships with the media, artists, and industry stakeholders while learning the art of communication within the music business.
- Production: Gaining experience in the technical aspects of music production and learning about the behind-the-scenes work that goes into creating and distributing music.
- Artists & Repertoire (A&R): Understanding how talent is discovered, developed, and managed, and working closely with artists to guide their careers.
Requirements for Applicants
To be eligible for this internship, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Educational Qualification: A completed qualification in Music, Public Relations, or a related field from an accredited institution.
- No Work Experience: This internship is designed for recent graduates with little to no prior work experience.
- Proof of Qualification: Applicants must submit certified copies of their qualifications and/or academic transcripts as proof of their academic achievements.
- Proximity to the Office Locations: Interns should be based in or near either Durban (eThekwini Metro) or Ndumo (Umkhanyakude District), as this will be the primary work location for the internship.
- South African Citizenship: The opportunity is open to South African citizens only.
- Passion for Music: A genuine passion for music and a positive, professional attitude are essential for success in this role.
Terms of the Internship
The successful candidates will receive a stipend of R6,500.00 per month for the duration of the 12-month internship. The interns will also be required to attend various company events, some of which may take place on weekends or evenings.
