Social Worker Position Overview:
- Salary Range: R308,247 – R362,439 per annum.

Requirements:
- Senior Certificate / Grade 12.
- Degree in Social Work or Social Science.
- Registration with the South African Council for Social Service Professions (SACSSP) as a Social Worker (valid for 2024).
Knowledge and Experience:
- Proficiency in mediation techniques.
- Knowledge and experience in counseling clients.
- Court experience in providing expert evidence.
Legal Knowledge:
- Familiarity with family law, including the Mediation in Certain Divorce Matters Act, Children’s Act, Maintenance Act, and Domestic Violence Act (including the Hague Convention on International Child Abduction).
Skills and Competences:
- Proficiency in computer literacy (MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Abilities in mediation, interviewing, conflict resolution, and evaluation.
- Strong report writing skills with attention to detail.
- Competence in diversity and conflict management.
Responsibilities:
Mediation and Inquiry Responsibilities:
- Conduct mediation and inquiries as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Address matters such as care, contact, guardianship, relocation, child abduction, and related family law disputes.
Forensic Court Reports:
- Evaluate information and compile forensic court reports.
- Make recommendations in the best interest of the child in family law disputes.
Expert Witness Role:
- Act as an expert witness for the family advocate in court proceedings.
Office of the Advocate Support:
- Assist beneficiaries in understanding the functions and role of the office of the advocate.
Field Work:
- Travel to conduct inquiries and interview parties, as well as gather references related to family law disputes.
Case Management:
- Manage allocated cases and strive to achieve set targets.
Counselling Responsibilities:
- Provide counselling services to mental health care users and HIV-positive patients.
Family Tracing and Counselling:
- Trace family members of clients and provide counselling to the family of deceased clients.
