Job Overview
The primary purpose of the Workshop Attendant role is to assist in mechanical operations that support colleagues and supervisors during the maintenance and repair of vehicles and motorcycles. This position involves preparing and operating workshop machinery such as hydraulic ramps, hoists, and other essential equipment. Additionally, the attendant will be responsible for checking fluid levels, changing tyres, inspecting brake systems, and assisting with general repairs.
Key Responsibilities
The Workshop Attendant will be responsible for various duties that contribute to the smooth functioning of the workshop. These responsibilities include:
- Preparing the workshop for daily operations by ensuring all tools and equipment are functional.
- Operating hydraulic ramps, hoists, and other mechanical equipment needed for servicing vehicles and motorcycles.
- Checking essential fluid levels such as oil, brake fluid, gearbox oil, and differential oil to ensure vehicles function efficiently.
- Removing and inspecting wheels and brake cylinders to maintain vehicle safety.
- Changing tyres and replacing or refitting repaired tyres on both vehicles and motorcycles.
- Inspecting lighting systems including indicators, brake lights, and headlamps to ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Assisting mechanics with general repairs and servicing of motor vehicles.
- Complying with Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) standards, including the proper use of safety gear such as safety boots, gloves, and overalls.
- Performing general cleaning duties in the workshop, including sweeping, washing, and maintaining a hygienic work environment.
- Cleaning and preparing spare parts for use by mechanics.

Since the role involves manual labor and maneuvering heavy equipment, applicants must be physically fit and capable of handling strenuous tasks. The workshop attendant will be expected to lift heavy objects, stand for extended periods, and perform physically demanding activities.
