Minimum Requirements

- Educational Qualifications:
- A minimum qualification of N2/Matric with Mathematics and Science, along with two relevant trade-related subjects, achieving at least 50% in each subject; OR
- An NCV Level 4 qualification with seven subjects (including Mathematics and Science), with a minimum of 50% per subject.
- Health and Fitness:
- Candidates must be medically fit to work in a mining environment, as per industry regulations.
- Technical and Practical Aptitude:
- Applicants should demonstrate a practical and logical mindset with an interest in equipment maintenance and engineering.
These requirements ensure that the candidates selected for the programme have the foundational knowledge and physical capability to succeed in the mining sector.
Key Responsibilities of Apprentices
Successful candidates will undertake a variety of technical tasks and responsibilities, including:
- Attending to mechanical, instrumentation, and electrical breakdowns within the mine.
- Conducting regular inspections and maintenance of mining equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Identifying and troubleshooting faults on DCS, PLCs, AC, and DC drives.
- Performing preventative and corrective maintenance in line with plant safety regulations.
- Analyzing breakdown causes and implementing effective solutions to minimize downtime.
- Ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and environmental standards at all times.
- Reading, interpreting, and understanding electrical and mechanical drawings.
- Assisting in basic rigging and stage crew operations as required.
