    The Department of Employment and Labour is currently seeking to fill five positions for the role of BCEA Inspector within its various Labour Centres.     Job Title: BCEA Inspector – IES (5 Posts)

    Salary: R269,499 per annum
    Location:

    • Rustenburg Labour Centre (3 positions) – Ref No: HR4/4/03/06
    • Klerksdorp Labour Centre (1 position) – Ref No: HR4/4/03/07
    • Stanger Labour Centre (1 position) – Ref No: HR4/4/5/10

    Key Requirements:

    • Qualification: A 3-year relevant qualification at NQF Level 6/7 in Labour Relations, BCOM Law, or LLB.
    • Experience: While no specific prior experience is required, candidates must demonstrate a strong understanding of labour legislation.
    • Other: A valid driver’s license is essential.

    Knowledge and Skills:

    • Labour Legislation: In-depth knowledge of various Acts such as the Skills Development Act, Labour Relations Act, Basic Conditions of Employment Act, Unemployment Insurance Act, and Unemployment Insurance Contribution Act.
    • Skills:
      • Facilitation: Ability to communicate effectively in diverse environments.
      • Planning and Organising: Strong organisational abilities to manage individual work tasks.
      • Computer Literacy: Competency in using office software like spreadsheets, PowerPoint, and word processing tools.
      • Interpersonal and Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for dealing with internal and external stakeholders.
      • Problem-Solving and Analytical Skills: Ability to handle complex issues effectively, with a focus on compliance.
      • Interviewing Skills: Capable of conducting effective interviews in investigations and inspections.
      • Employment Equity: Knowledge of Employment Equity principles and the ability to contribute to equity goals.

    Job Duties:

    The successful candidates will be responsible for:

    1. Conducting Inspections: Ensuring compliance with all relevant labour legislation by conducting occupational inspections at workplaces.
    2. Investigating Reports: Examining and investigating cases of reported labour violations, enforcing penalties or corrective actions when necessary.
    3. Proactive Inspections: Performing proactive “Blitz” inspections to monitor and improve workplace compliance.
    4. Advocacy and Campaigns: Leading advocacy campaigns aimed at educating businesses and employees on labour legislation.
    5. Reporting and Planning: Assisting in the preparation of inspection plans and reports, along with compiling statistics on the progress and outcomes of inspections.
