Key Responsibilities
As a Cosmetics Merchandiser, your role is to ensure that Dis-Chem’s merchandising standards are adhered to and that customers receive top-notch service. You will be responsible for:
Stock Control
- Restocking merchandise to ensure availability and display maximum products.
- Managing stock by storing and packing it in designated areas upon arrival.
- Ensuring that products on shelves are within sell-by dates.
- Monitoring low stock levels and reporting any damaged or expired stock to management.
- Rotating stock on a continuous basis using the first-in, first-out principle.
- Organizing the storeroom and keeping it neat and tidy.
- Assisting in stock counting and general stock taking.
Merchandising
- Maintaining store layouts and planograms as per Dis-Chem’s merchandising policy.
- Presenting front shop shelves and products neatly, ensuring correct pricing and labeling.
- Assisting in building, facing up, and maintaining displays according to company standards.
- Ensuring that merchandise is handled with care to prevent losses.
Customer Service
- Providing courteous and friendly service to all customers.
- Following up on customer stock queries and resolving them efficiently.
- Maintaining an organized, clean, and professional work environment.
General Duties
- Adhering to health and safety regulations, as well as Dis-Chem’s policies and procedures.
- Wearing the correct uniform and name badge as per company standards.
Requirements
To succeed in this role, the following qualifications and skills are essential:
- Educational Requirement: Grade 12 / Matric
- Experience:
- 0 – 6 Months of Retail experience (essential)
- 6 – 12 Months of experience in Cosmetics (essential)
- Minimum of 1-year experience in retail (advantageous)
- Skills:
- Knowledge of merchandising standards and the FMCG industry.
- Proficiency in using planograms.
- Strong communication skills (English), both written and verbal.
- Ability to work with technical equipment like scanners and manage stock levels.
Special Conditions of Employment
- Willingness to work retail hours.
- Must be a South African citizen with a clear credit and criminal record.
