    Role Overview

    The Delivery Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting the company’s logistics operations. Their primary responsibility is to assist the delivery driver in ensuring accurate and timely deliveries to customers. This includes presenting and obtaining signatures on Proof of Delivery (POD) documents, assisting with invoice corrections, verifying payments where applicable, and supporting the loading and unloading of goods.

    By ensuring efficient delivery operations and maintaining customer satisfaction, the Delivery Assistant contributes significantly to Econo Foods’ reputation for excellence in service and quality.

    Key Responsibilities

    The Delivery Assistant will be responsible for the following tasks:

    Delivery Support

    • Assisting the driver in safely transporting products to designated customer locations.
    • Ensuring deliveries are accurate and timely, contributing to overall efficiency.
    • Navigating delivery routes using maps or GPS systems to optimize efficiency and prevent delays.

    Documentation and Record-Keeping

    • Presenting the Proof of Delivery (POD) document to customers and obtaining their signatures.
    • Assisting in completing invoice correction forms, ensuring that any discrepancies are resolved quickly.
    • Verifying customer payments, including cash or checks, and ensuring proper documentation is recorded.
    • Maintaining accurate inventory records, including documenting returned or damaged products.

    Loading and Unloading

    • Assisting with the loading and unloading of products onto and from the delivery vehicle.
    • Following safety protocols to prevent product damage or loss.
    • Safeguarding stock while in transit, ensuring proper handling of goods.

    Customer Interaction

    • Interacting professionally and courteously with customers.
    • Addressing inquiries and minor issues, ensuring a positive customer experience.
    • Supporting customers with any delivery-related concerns to enhance satisfaction.

    Safety and Compliance

    • Adhering to all safety guidelines and utilizing appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
    • Ensuring the delivery vehicle’s cab remains clean and organized.
    • Establishing a safe work environment, contributing to the overall safety compliance of the company.

    Qualifications and Experience

    Candidates must meet the following requirements to be considered for the position:

    • Matric/Grade 12 certificate or an equivalent qualification.
    • A minimum of two years of experience in a warehousing or logistics environment.
    • Prior experience in the FMCG retail industry will be advantageous.
