    Key Responsibilities

    The Enrolled Nurse will play a critical role in coordinating, supervising, and ensuring the quality of HIV Counseling and Testing (HCT) services provided by outreach workers. The responsibilities of this role include:

    Clinical Services

    • Performing Provider-Initiated Counseling and Testing (PICT) for clients and their partners.
    • Issuing accurate and quality test results to clients.
    • Screening clients for STIs and TB and referring them for appropriate management.
    • Promoting and demonstrating the correct and consistent use of condoms.
    • Ensuring linkage of clients to suitable healthcare facilities.
    • Conducting age-appropriate HIV risk-reduction counseling.
    • Identifying and managing potential risks.
    • Maintaining infection control standards and coordinating waste management.

    Technical Support and Capacity Building

    • Supervising outreach workers engaged in HCT.
    • Supporting the implementation of the 90-90-90 strategies in line with Department of Health (DOH) protocols.
    • Monitoring and validating data, updating registers, and preparing reports.
    • Providing in-service training to subordinates on clinical topics.
    • Mentoring teams on counseling and testing methods.
    • Capturing and submitting outreach data and linkage spreadsheets.

    Quality Control

    • Maintaining storage and inventory of test kits.
    • Coordinating weekly Quality Improvement Checks (QIC).
    • Organizing proficiency testing for outreach teams.

    Administrative Duties

    • Capturing and managing data from outreach teams.
    • Auditing client forms to ensure correct usage and completion.
    • Ensuring adequate stock levels and timely requisition of supplies.
    • Submitting accurate reports and forms to the relevant authorities.

    Qualifications and Experience

    Applicants must meet the following requirements to be considered for the position:

    • Educational Background: Matric certificate and an Enrolled Nursing qualification.
    • Registration: Valid registration with the South African Nursing Council.
    • Experience: Minimum of two years in clinical HIV/AIDS and TB work, with experience in a primary healthcare setting. Previous exposure to a surgical environment and counseling skills will be advantageous.
    • Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills, computer literacy, and basic organizational abilities.
    • Attributes: Empathy, understanding of issues affecting people living with HIV/AIDS, and the ability to engage with individuals in a friendly manner.
