In collaboration with the Ga-Segonyana Local Municipality, Assmang BRMO is offering a bursary programme for the 2025 academic year. Aimed at fostering education and skills development in the region, this initiative will award five bursaries to students residing in the Ga-Segonyana Local Municipality.

About the Bursary Provider – Assmang Manganese: Black Rock Mine

Assmang’s Black Rock Mine Operations (BRMO) is a manganese-rich mining property located near Kuruman in South Africa’s Northern Cape province. Owned by Associated Manganese Mines of South Africa, Ltd (Assmang) since 1940, the mine boasts one of the country’s largest manganese reserves.

With an estimated 70 million tonnes of manganese ore containing 39% manganese metal, the mine plays a pivotal role in South Africa’s mining industry. While most of its production is exported, a portion is allocated to the domestic market, ensuring a significant contribution to the local economy.
