    The KwaZulu-Natal Department of Sport, Arts and Culture (KZN DSAC) has announced an exciting opportunity for unemployed graduates to participate in a comprehensive internship programme. This initiative, spanning 24 months, is designed to empower young professionals by providing them with practical work experience in their fields of study. Applications are now open for the 2025/2027 internship cycle.

    Who Can Apply?

    The programme targets South African graduates residing in KwaZulu-Natal, aged between 18 and 35, who have completed a relevant degree or a three-year National Diploma. It specifically seeks individuals who have not yet gained work experience in their area of study or participated in a government internship programme. The initiative aligns with the National Skills Development Strategy III, focusing on fostering skill development among youth from designated groups and underrepresented areas.

    Successful applicants will be offered a monthly stipend of R7,450.20 for the 24-month duration of the programme.

    Available Fields of Study

    The KZN DSAC internship programme offers placements in various fields, including:

    1. Sport Science and Human Movement Sciences
    2. Performing Arts and Non-Performing Arts
    3. Development Studies
    4. Public Management/Administration
    5. Human Resource Management, Industrial Psychology, and Labour Relations
    6. Accounting and Budget Services
    7. Risk Management, Internal Auditing, and Integrity Services
    8. Environmental Science with a focus on Monitoring and Evaluation
    9. Journalism, Communication, Marketing, and Public Relations
    10. Tourism
    11. Civil Engineering and Built Environment
    12. Supply Chain and Financial Management

    The programme also includes placements in specific areas such as Archives, Museum Services, and Heritage Management, catering to individuals with degrees in Social Sciences, Records Management, or Archival Studies.

    Placement Locations

    Internship placements are distributed across various districts in KwaZulu-Natal, ensuring opportunities are accessible to applicants residing in different areas. These districts include:

    • uThukela (Ladysmith)
    • uMzinyathi (Dundee)
    • Amajuba (Newcastle)
    • Harry Gwala (Ixopo)
    • uGu (Margate)
    • King Cetshwayo (Richards Bay)
    • uMkhanyakude (Hluhluwe)
    • Zululand (Ulundi)
    • iLembe (KwaDukuza)
    • eThekwini Metro (Durban)
    • uMgungundlovu (Pietermaritzburg)

    Additionally, some internships are based at the department’s Head Office in Pietermaritzburg or Durban.

    Application Process

    To apply, candidates must complete the Z83 Application Form (2021 version), which can be downloaded from the Department of Public Service and Administration (DPSA) website or obtained from any public service department. Applications must include:

    • A comprehensive, updated CV detailing the modules covered in the qualification.
    • Proof of residential address.

    Important Notes:

    • Only shortlisted candidates will need to provide certified copies of qualifications, ID, and other supporting documents during the interview stage.
    • Applicants with foreign qualifications must submit a South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) evaluation certificate.
    • Incomplete or unsigned Z83 forms, as well as applications submitted after the deadline, will not be considered.
