    Purpose of the Handyman Job

    The Handyman at the Road Accident Fund is responsible for carrying out low-risk scheduled and unscheduled maintenance tasks across various disciplines, including electrical, plumbing, building, and carpentry. This role ensures that the organization’s facilities remain in optimal condition, contributing to the smooth functioning of operations.

    Responsibilities

    The Handyman will be responsible for the following:

    1. Electrical Maintenance
      • Performing basic electrical installation and maintenance tasks.
      • Replacing light bulbs, plugs, and adjusting air-conditioning temperatures.
      • Cleaning air-conditioning filters to ensure proper functioning.
    2. Plumbing Maintenance
      • Unblocking drains and replacing taps.
      • Fixing water leaks to prevent damage and wastage.
    3. Building Maintenance
      • Painting and general workshop cleaning.
      • Managing tools and fixing loose carpets, door locks, and blinds.
    4. Carpentry Maintenance
      • Repairing and fixing cabinet doors, locks, handles, tables, and chairs.
    5. Administration
      • Updating maintenance reports and logging hazardous incidents.
      • Coordinating with service providers to manage service level agreements (SLAs), such as gardening services.

    Requirements

    • Educational Requirements:
      • A Matric qualification is required.
      • An N3 National Certificate in Engineering or a related field (Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning, Carpentry) is advantageous.
    • Experience:
      • At least 1 year of relevant experience in building maintenance, facilities management, or a technical environment is required.
