- Registration: A valid registration certificate for Independent Practice with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) and a current Annual Practicing Certificate.
- Experience: At least 12 months post-Community Service experience as a Medical Officer/Dentist by the closing date of the advert.
- Driver’s License: A valid driver’s license is required.
- Discipline-Specific Requirements: Each discipline has additional specific requirements, such as previous experience, examinations, or qualifications.
Registrar Training Details
Medical Registrars:
- Training will occur at various sites, and rotations will be determined by the Academic Head of Discipline.
- Registrars are expected to register for the MMED program at their own expense and sign a contract that includes training and service obligations.
- A pay-back period is part of the contract terms.
Dental Registrars:
- Training will be conducted within both the Gauteng and KZN Provinces.
- Initial relocation costs will be covered, but registrars must find their own accommodation.
- The training period is five years, and registrars must register for the MDENT program.
Salary and Benefits
The entry-level salary for Registrar posts is R949,146 per annum, which includes a flexible remuneration package. Commuted overtime is discipline-specific and must be applied for separately.
