Responsibilities
- Planned and Reactive Maintenance
- Execute planned maintenance on mechanical assets including HVAC systems, bridges, pump stations, lifts, and escalators.
- Respond to reactive maintenance needs and resolve mechanical issues as they arise.
- Work with the Mechanical Supervisor to report and track any issues, ensuring quick and professional resolutions.
- Inspection and Fault-Finding
- Conduct regular inspections of mechanical systems, identifying any problems before they become serious.
- Perform fault-finding on mechanical plants like air-conditioning, district cooling systems, and pump stations.
- People and Stakeholder Management
- Liaise with external service providers and suppliers to ensure that maintenance work is performed to high standards.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders and tenants to ensure minimal disruption during maintenance.
- Mentor and guide interns or junior staff members when necessary.
- Safety and Compliance
- Ensure that all activities comply with relevant Health and Safety standards.
- Proactively manage risk and ensure that compliance is always upheld across all mechanical activities.
- Administrative Tasks
- Keep detailed records of maintenance activities, including callouts and tasks completed.
- Submit reports and checklists to supervisors on a weekly basis.
- Occasionally assist with mechanical installations when required.
Working Conditions

Requirements
Educational Requirements
- Minimum N3 qualification.
- Trade Test certified in a relevant mechanical field.
Skills and Experience
- 3-5 years of experience in HVAC and BMS systems.
- Experience in building maintenance (including lifts, escalators, and hydraulics) will be advantageous.
- Knowledge of pumps, hydraulics, and gears for machine and tool repairs.
- Proficiency in maintenance processes and methods.
- Familiarity with Building Management Systems and compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
- Competence in the National Building Regulations (SANS10400).
