    Operations Accountant Job Description

    As an Operations Accountant, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the finance and administration functions within the Breëriver, Packaging, and Kouga regions. You will support senior management with strategic financial insights and ensure that the business operates efficiently and within company policies. This position requires travel to various branches and the ability to respond to short-notice requests.

    1. Breëriver Region (Western Cape):
      • Towns: Barrydale, Montague, Robertson, Worcester, Rawsonville, Elgin, Hermanus, Bredasdorp
      • Preferential Locations: Worcester, Paarl, Elgin
    2. Packaging Region (Western Cape):
      • Towns: Orchard, Worcester, Paarl, Piketberg, Ceres
      • Preferential Locations: Wellington, Paarl
    3. Kouga Region (Eastern Cape):
      • Towns: Addo, Langkloof (Joubertina), Kirkwood, Patensie
      • Preferential Locations: Addo, Langkloof

    Key Responsibilities

    • Financial Reporting: Analyse and report financial performance against set targets, and compile monthly reports.
    • Budgeting: Coordinate branch and capital budget processes and control financial feasibility studies.
    • Strategic Support: Provide strategic financial advice to Regional Managers and other internal stakeholders.
    • Audit & Compliance: Manage annual external audits and ensure legal compliance across all operations.
    • Stock Control: Ensure accurate stock counts and resolve variances in line with company policies.
    • Digital Transformation: Upskill branch staff on financial systems, policies, and procedures.
    • Process Optimization: Drive efficiencies, improve systems, and ensure that branch controls align with company policies.

    Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):

    1. Growth:
      • Support and monitor branch financial targets.
      • Facilitate financial feasibility for new projects.
    2. Optimisation:
      • Implement and monitor branch controls.
      • Provide sound financial advice on internal systems and applications.
    3. Quality Assurance:
      • Conduct accurate stock counts.
      • Ensure timely functional reporting.
    4. Leveraging Culture & Diversity:
      • Maintain strong internal stakeholder relations.
      • Organize and manage work efficiently.
    5. Digital Transformation:
      • Upskill staff in financial systems.
      • Continuously evaluate branch controls both remotely and on-site.

    Minimum Requirements

    • Qualifications: B Degree in Commerce (BCom) or CIMA.
    • Experience: Minimum of 4 years in a similar role.
    • Technical Skills: Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
    • Transport: Personal transport is essential for travel between branches.
