    Anova Health Institute is a leading NGO dedicated to providing healthcare solutions and support for vulnerable communities in South Africa. Their focus on good health and quality of life drives them to implement various health initiatives, including HIV/AIDS treatment, prevention, and mental health promotion.

    SIOC Development Trust (SIOC-CDT), established in 2006 by the Sishen Iron Ore Company, collaborates with Anova to address community development needs. Together, they are implementing a Mental Health Programme that aims to reduce premature mortality from non-communicable diseases through mental health promotion, prevention, and support.

    Project Manager Job Description

    As a Project Manager, you will be responsible for the leadership and management of the Mental Health Programme, covering various aspects such as human resources, financial management, and operational oversight. You will be the driving force behind the implementation of structures and systems to ensure the programme’s success and sustainability.

    Key Responsibilities

    1. Team Leadership and Management
      • Guide and lead the project team towards achieving desired programme objectives.
      • Manage the daily operations of the project, covering Human Resources, Financial, and Administrative responsibilities.
      • Develop and implement effective structures or systems to ensure smooth programme operations.
    2. Stakeholder Engagement and Management
      • Build and maintain relationships with Anova, Provincial, District, and Sub-district stakeholders.
      • Advocate for the project objectives within the community to increase programme awareness.
      • Represent Anova at stakeholder meetings and foster positive relationships to support programme objectives.
      • Facilitate induction and training sessions for stakeholders to align them with the programme’s vision and objectives.
    3. Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting
      • Monitor the progress of the project plan versus implementation.
      • Conduct site visits, review action plans, and make necessary adjustments to ensure project relevance.
      • Manage performance reviews and assessments for staff and other stakeholders.
      • Ensure all relevant documentation is available for audits and compliance checks.
    4. Administrative Support
      • Maintain compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and statutory requirements.
      • Provide comprehensive reports as required, including daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly updates.
      • Facilitate workshops to promote and support project implementation.

    Minimum Requirements

    • Degree in Social Work, Psychosocial, Nursing, or any other related field.
    • Postgraduate qualification in Health/Social Sciences or a related field is an advantage.
    • 3 years’ experience in project or operations management.
    • 8 years’ experience in Public Health environments.
    • Knowledge of mental health and community health issues.
    • Experience working with individuals with mental health challenges is beneficial.
    • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel as needed.
    • Proficiency in MS Office packages (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
    • Fully vaccinated for COVID-19.

    • Excellent communication skills, including fluency in at least one local language.
    • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
    • Analytical, detail-oriented, and innovative thinking abilities.
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
    • Proficient report writing and presentation skills.
    • Ability to work flexible hours when necessary.
