Job Responsibilities
As a Receiving Clerk at I&J’s Third Party Central Cold Storage (CCS) in Cape Town, you’ll ensure that all incoming stock meets specified quality and quantity standards. This role is ideal for someone with a keen eye for detail and a commitment to accuracy, as you’ll be responsible for verifying incoming shipments and updating inventory data.
Your primary duties will include:
- Receiving Inventory: Record all stock received from I&J production sites, Cape Town Fishing (CTF), and other third-party providers. This entails checking the stock quality, quantity, and temperature before logging it into the SAP system.
- Procedural Adherence: Ensure compliance with CCS receiving protocols, ensuring stock is handled, recorded, and stored properly.
- Discrepancy Management: Follow up on any quality or quantity inconsistencies at the time of receiving.
- System Updates: Keep the CCS system in sync with I&J records, ensuring all received goods align with inventory data.
- Role Flexibility: Stand in for the CCS Dispatch Clerk and Load Scheduler when needed.
- Inventory Support: Assist with inventory verification, both during formal stock counts and as needed for ad hoc audits.
This role directly reports to the Inventory Controller and requires close collaboration with various departments to maintain accurate records and stock levels.

Required Skills and Qualifications
To excel in this role, you’ll need:
- Educational Qualification: Minimum of a Grade 12 certificate.
- Work Experience: At least 2-4 years of experience in a Receiving Clerk role within warehousing or similar environments.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in SAP or similar inventory management systems.
- Attention to Detail: An ability to spot discrepancies in stock quantities or quality, ensuring accurate record-keeping and adherence to standards.
