    Registered Nurse Job Description

    Key Responsibilities

    1. Clinical Handover:
      • Conduct thorough morning handovers using the ISBAR procedure with the Shift Leader on the opposite shift.
      • Ensure that all reports are current and accurate for handover, verifying all necessary information.
    2. Medication Management:
      • Administer medication to residents according to their specific allocation.
      • Monitor the administration of scheduled drugs.
      • Perform weekly drug checks and ensure that blister-packaged medications are available, verified, and signed by two Registered Nurses.
      • Manage any adverse drug effects by consulting with doctors immediately to obtain intervention and treatment orders.
    3. Patient Nursing Care Plan:
      • Conduct assessments of patients’ health conditions, including vital signs, medical history, and symptoms.
      • Collaborate with the Nursing Service Manager and the MDT to develop and implement comprehensive nursing care plans.
      • Regularly review and adjust care plans as needed to ensure optimal patient care.
    4. Clinical Tasks:
      • Perform various clinical tasks within the scope of a Registered Nurse, including wound care, pressure care, ostomy care, management of skin lesions, catheter care, and patient weighing.
      • Conduct routine resident rounds to monitor and assess the quality of care provided.
      • Evaluate patients in areas of specific concern and modify care plans as necessary.
      • Ensure that all doctor’s prescriptions and physiotherapy recommendations are properly implemented and included in patient care plans.
      • Collaborate with the Senior Nursing Service Manager to address any clinical concerns or issues related to the quality of care.
    5. Risk Management:
      • Maintain rigorous infection control practices to ensure a safe and healthy environment for both patients and staff.
      • Effectively manage emergencies and incidents, adhering to all prescribed procedures and protocols.

    Requirements

    • Qualifications:
      • Registered with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Registered Nurse.
      • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is advantageous.
    • Experience and Knowledge:
      • Proven experience as a Registered Nurse in a healthcare setting.
      • Experience in a leadership position, particularly in a medical or ICU environment, is advantageous.
      • Knowledge of Dementia care, Frail care, and Palliative care is beneficial.
    • Skills and Attributes:
      • Excellent multitasking and organizational skills.
      • Strong interpersonal and professional communication skills.
      • Dependability and a proactive approach to work.
      • Leadership skills, with sound decision-making and critical thinking abilities.
      • Proficient in computer use, with excellent verbal and written communication skills.

    Working Hours and Benefits

    • Working Days: Monday to Sunday.
    • Shifts: You will be required to work 16.25 shifts per month. Day shifts run from 07h00 to 19h00, and night shifts from 19h00 to 07h00.
    • Compensation: The salary offered is competitive, starting from R 35,000.00 Cost to Company per month, dependent on your qualifications, experience, and market-related factors.
