    1. Disaster Management Officer

    • Task Grade: TK 11
    • Salary Range: R342 231 – R444 213 per annum
    • Permanent Position

    Key Requirements:

    • A National Diploma in Disaster Management
    • Grade 12 qualification
    • At least three years of practical experience in disaster management and related programs
    • Proficiency in MS Office packages (computer literacy)
    • Strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills
    • Ability to work independently and with diverse communities
    • First Aid Level 3 certification, along with Fire Fighting and Basic Radio Communication skills
    • Valid Code 08 [EB] driver’s license
    • Fluency in two official languages spoken in the Sarah Baartman District Municipality
    • Experience in delivering disaster management-oriented training (advantageous)

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Oversee all disaster management activities in the Satellite Centre and ensure compliance with relevant legislation and the municipality’s disaster management framework
    • Recruit and train volunteers and personnel for disaster management teams
    • Conduct training on First Aid, Fire Fighting, Radio Communication, and Crowd Control
    • Establish and maintain effective communication networks within the district
    • Manage disaster management equipment and resources within the designated area
    • Develop and maintain disaster preparedness plans for at-risk communities, including local municipalities
    • Organize community awareness programs aimed at mitigating disaster risks
    • Assist in disaster response efforts and ensure communities are prepared to handle incidents efficiently

    2. Senior Civil Engineering Technician

    • Task Grade: TK 12
    • Salary Range: R404 034 – R524 424 per annum

    Key Requirements:

    • National Diploma in Civil Engineering
    • Three years of practical experience in infrastructure projects and programs
    • Knowledge of relevant legislation and contract administration
    • Strong communication, interpersonal, and report-writing skills
    • Proficiency in project management and planning
    • Advanced knowledge of MS Office packages (computer competency)
    • Ability to work independently and travel extensively within the district
    • A valid Code EB driver’s license

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Assist in planning and implementing infrastructure projects in collaboration with Local Municipality Project Management Units (PMUs)
    • Monitor the cost and quality of infrastructure projects implemented throughout the district
    • Address queries, requests, and complaints from stakeholders related to infrastructure programs
    • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and protocols in all infrastructure projects
    • Prepare technical reports and business plans for district-wide infrastructure programs
    • Regularly report on project progress and resolve problem areas
    • Perform administrative duties related to infrastructure projects

    3. Unemployed Graduate Internship Programme:

    • Field: Tourism
    • Stipend: R96 000 per annum
    • Duration: 2 Years (Fixed-Term Contract)

    SBDM is also offering an exciting opportunity for unemployed graduates to gain practical experience through a 2-year fixed-term internship in Tourism. This program aims to provide training and experience to graduates to help them secure meaningful employment in the future.

    Requirements:

    • Tertiary qualification: Degree or BTech in Tourism
    • Candidates must reside in one of the following Local Municipalities: Blue Crane Route, Kouga, Koukamma, Makana, Ndlambe, Sundays River Valley, or Dr Beyers Naude

    This is a unique opportunity for unemployed graduates to gain hands-on experience, improve their skills, and contribute to the community’s development.
