Shop Assistant Job Description
As a Shop Assistant, your role is pivotal in delivering an extraordinary customer experience by being friendly, proactive, and sales-driven. You will interact with customers, help them find products, offer advice, and ensure they leave with a smile. Your goal is to maximize sales and provide a “WOW” customer experience.
Responsibilities
- Providing AWESOME Customer Service: Greet customers with a friendly attitude and ensure they feel welcome. You will help them find products and give recommendations to meet their needs.
- Unique Shopping Experience: Each customer is different, so you need to tailor your approach to suit their specific shopping needs. Always put the customer first.
- Prompt and Relevant Service: Attend to customer queries quickly and efficiently, whether in-person on the sales floor or over the telephone.
- Product Knowledge: Understand the product range, prices, and warranties to provide accurate advice to customers. You will also demonstrate and explain products to help customers make informed purchasing decisions.
- Upselling and Add-On Sales: Selling products is essential, but so is offering add-on services that complement the products customers are purchasing. Aim to increase the overall value of each transaction.
- Merchandising and Display: Ensure that all items are correctly priced, displayed according to store standards, and promotions are implemented promptly.
- Adherence to Standards: Follow store guidelines related to merchandising, housekeeping, and store layouts to maintain a professional and welcoming environment.
- Promotions and Sales Execution: Be part of the planning and implementation of all advertised sales promotions to drive customer interest.
- Stock Management: Participate in stock counts and stock-taking activities to ensure inventory is accurate and well-managed. Help minimize stock loss through careful handling of products.
- Sales and Expenses Management: Maximize sales and help reduce unnecessary expenses by being efficient and mindful of costs in your area of responsibility.
- Security and Asset Protection: Ensure that the company’s assets, including products and store equipment, are protected by adhering to security protocols.
Additional Duties
- Take part in any other duties assigned by Senior Management.
- Complete all required training and adhere to the company’s policies and procedures.
- Maintain confidentiality of all company information.
- Participate in regular performance reviews and appraisals to support your professional development.
- Be adaptable to new technology and company methods to improve store performance.
Requirements
- Matric Certificate: A minimum qualification of matric is required.
- Retail Experience: At least 6 months of experience working in a retail environment is preferred.
- Transport: You must have your own or reliable transportation, as this job requires working shifts.
