About the Role
The Supervisor Handyman will take on a critical role in ensuring efficient meter services and maintenance, supporting the Water and Sanitation Unit’s operational standards. The successful candidate will contribute significantly to customer satisfaction by performing investigations, confirmations, and maintenance activities. The position also includes a supervisory aspect, requiring oversight of general workers while ensuring all tasks align with organizational objectives.
Key Responsibilities
The role involves a variety of tasks, including but not limited to:
- Performing technical functions such as meter restarts, changes, resets, and general maintenance for meters up to 40 mm in size.
- Investigating and confirming discrepancies such as crossed meters and incorrect account allocations to ensure accurate billing.
- Inspecting meters on properties for unusual consumption patterns, potential leaks, or illegal connections.
- Tracing unidentified meters (UTL meters) and correcting their locations.
- Installing and painting meter covers and boxes, along with associated markers.
- Driving a municipal vehicle for operational purposes.
- Supervising the work of general workers and ensuring tasks are executed effectively.
- Managing general clerical and administrative functions within the branch.

- Educational Qualification: Grade 12 (NQF Level 4) or equivalent.
- Experience: 3 years of relevant experience.
