    Transport Officer Job Purpose

    The Transport Officer will be responsible for recording, monitoring, and reporting on fleet utilization and running costs. The role includes supervising and controlling the efficient administration of the Department’s Transport fleet and mobile plant to ensure compliance with the Road Transport Act, R.T.Q.S., and standard council regulations.

    Key Responsibilities

    As a Transport Officer, your responsibilities will include:

    1. Legislative Compliance:
      • Ensure that all transport legislative requirements, including the Road Traffic Ordinance Act and Road Transport Quality Systems (R.T.Q.S.), are met.
    2. Fleet Administration:
      • Maintain an organized filing system for fleet and plant vehicles, covering maintenance costs, usage, and other records.
    3. Maintenance Monitoring:
      • Oversee maintenance schedules and provide pool vehicles when required.
    4. Stationery and Supplies:
      • Manage stationery requirements for the transport section.
    5. Technical Liaison:
      • Work closely with managers on technical aspects, including vehicle inspections, specifications, and refurbishment programs.
    6. Data and Reporting:
      • Extract and prepare statistical information from various management systems like the fuel management and vehicle monitoring systems.
    7. Supervision:
      • Supervise and control subordinate staff within the transport subsection.

    Requirements

    Essential Qualifications and Experience:

    • License: Valid motor vehicle driving license.
    • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.
    • Skills: Proficiency in computer literacy.

    Preferred Qualifications and Experience:

    • 4 years of relevant experience.

    Work Conditions

    • Work involves a 40-hour, 5-day week with flexitime options, subject to agreement with the Administration Manager.
    • Special conditions include adherence to the Protection Clothing Schedule.
