Casual Catering Driver Role Overview
Icebolethu Group is seeking six Casual Catering Drivers to join their Catering Division. This role involves ensuring smooth logistics for funerals and related events. You will be stationed across six KZN locations: Empangeni, Estcourt, Hammarsdale, Kokstad, Pongola, and Umlazi. You will play a vital role in ensuring respectful service and timely deliveries for the community during a sensitive time.
Key Responsibilities
- Efficient Collection & Delivery: Safely transport staff and equipment to and from event sites.
- Punctuality: Arrive ahead of time to ensure smooth and timely operations.
- Respectful Interaction: Engage with bereaved families with empathy and professionalism.
- Customer Service Excellence: Provide accurate information, address client inquiries, and maintain a professional image.
- Road Safety: Always adhere to traffic laws, ensuring safety on the road.
- Vehicle Maintenance: Keep vehicles clean, well-fuelled, and mechanically sound (check tyres, fluids, and lights).
- Post-Event Assistance: Help unload and store equipment after events.
- Report Issues: Identify vehicle issues and report them promptly.
- Other Duties: Fulfill additional duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Grade 12 (Matric).
- Valid Code 10 or Code 14 driver’s license.
- Professional Driving Permit (PDP).
Experience & Knowledge
- A minimum of 2 years’ driving experience, particularly with trailer towing (~2.5m wide).
- Familiarity with local roads in the six listed KZN towns.
- Physically fit to lift and carry heavy items.
- Reliable transport to and from the workplace.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays.
Skills
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Proficiency in trailer towing and competent driving skills.
- Familiarity with GPS systems and basic computer skills.
- Compassionate and professional attitude when engaging with clients.
