As a Civil Artisan, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of the hospital’s civil, electrical, and mechanical systems. From installation to maintenance and repair, your expertise will ensure a safe, compliant, and efficient facility.
Key Responsibilities
- Facility Systems Maintenance
- Oversee civil-related systems, ensuring proper functioning and compliance.
- Maintain and repair systems such as sewers, hot and cold water supplies, and structures.
- Repair and Supervision
- Conduct repairs on furnishings, fixtures, and fittings.
- Provide guidance on water-pressurized fire systems.
- Contractor Oversight
- Monitor and ensure quality control on all contractor work carried out on hospital premises.
- Preventative Maintenance
- Develop and implement maintenance plans aligned with company policies.
- Maintain accurate records for all undertaken work and services.
- Compliance and Safety
- Ensure safety standards for sewers, structures, furnishings, and fixtures.
- Adhere to R158 Building regulations specific to hospitals and theatres.
- Emergency and Standby Function
- Respond promptly to emergencies and perform standby duties as required.
Qualifications and Experience
To be eligible for this role, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Educational Background:
- Electrical or Mechanical Diploma
- National Trade Certificate
- Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of maintenance experience, preferably in a hospital/healthcare environment.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in computer systems.
- Strong understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
- Familiarity with R158 Building Regulations for hospitals and industrial kitchens.
- Additional Skills:
- Expertise in PFC and standby power facilities.
- Good planning, organization, and adaptability under pressure.
- Availability:
- Willingness to work overtime when necessary.
