    Driving Instructor Job Description

    As a Driving Instructor, your primary responsibility will be to facilitate, assess, and present driver training programs. These will be conducted through a blend of classroom instruction and in-car assessments, focusing on safety and competency in line with industry standards and legal requirements.

    Job Responsibilities

    In this role, you will be expected to:

    1. Conduct Training Interventions: Provide driver training in both classroom settings and practical in-car sessions, covering best practices, safety protocols, and compliance with legislation.
    2. Facilitate and Assess Learners: Mentor and guide learners in driver training programs, ensuring they meet the necessary competency standards and achieve the goals outlined in their program.
    3. Ensure Compliance with Standards: Adhere to Quality Management Systems (QMS), SASSETA, PSIRA, and other regulatory requirements during training sessions.
    4. Adaptability and Travel: Be willing to travel to regional branches and work flexible hours, including occasional night shifts and weekends, to meet the demands of the position.

    Minimum Requirements

    To be considered for this position, applicants must meet the following criteria:

    • Driver’s License (EB): Valid driver’s license suitable for the role.
    • Certified K53 Driving Instructor: Certification from a Provincial Traffic Training College or MasterDrive.
    • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office packages.
    • Educational Qualifications: Minimum of Grade 12 or NQF Level 4.
    • PSIRA Grades E-B: Registration as a qualified PSIRA Grades E-B instructor.
    • Assessor Registration: Certification with ETDP SETA & SASSETA.
    • Driving Experience: At least three years of experience as a licensed LMV driver.
    • Communication Skills: Excellent command of English, both verbal and written.
    • Clear Criminal Record: Must provide a valid clearance.

    • Training Facilitation and Assessment: Conduct training sessions effectively, evaluate learners accurately, and ensure they gain the necessary skills to succeed.

    • Guiding and Coaching: Assist learners in achieving competence standards set within the driving programs.
    • Legislative Adherence: Maintain strict compliance with guidelines set by bodies such as SASSETA, PSIRA, DoL, SAPS, and QCTO.
