Purpose of the Electrician Role
The Electrician at Belgotex will play a crucial role in installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems and equipment to ensure they are safe, functional, and efficient. This position will report to the Electrical Foreman and be a part of the Engineering Department.
Key Responsibilities
1. Installations and Repairs:
- Install wiring, outlets, switches, and other electrical components in various settings such as residential, commercial, and industrial environments.
- Work with different electrical systems, including lighting, heating, and power distribution.
- Diagnose problems and perform necessary repairs, including fixing faulty wiring, repairing damaged components, and addressing power outage issues.
2. Maintenance:
- Conduct routine maintenance to ensure the proper operation of electrical systems.
- Inspect systems, replace worn-out parts, and upgrade components to meet current safety and compliance standards.
3. Safety and Compliance:
- Ensure that all electrical work is in compliance with safety codes and regulations.
- Implement safety measures to prevent electrical hazards such as short circuits or electrical fires.
4. Consultation and Training:
- Offer advice on electrical system design, energy efficiency, and upgrades.
- Assist clients in understanding their electrical needs and recommend suitable solutions.
5. Support and Training:
- Direct and train Electrical Assistants to install, maintain, or repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures.

Job Requirements

- Education: Grade 12/Matric with Maths and Science is essential.
- Training: Completion of a recognized Electrical Apprenticeship is a must.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment is preferable.

- Flexibility: Must be willing to work during shutdowns, be available for standby, and work on weekends when necessary.
