    Enrolled Nurse Job Description

    Anova Health Institute NPC is committed to providing healthcare solutions that support South Africa’s goal of reaching its 95-95-95 HIV targets. This means ensuring that 95% of people living with HIV know their status, 95% of those diagnosed with HIV receive sustained antiretroviral therapy, and 95% of those receiving therapy achieve viral suppression.

    The Enrolled Nurse will play a key role in supporting Anova’s facility-based Differentiated Service Delivery (DSD) team. As part of this role, the nurse will assist local healthcare facilities in Sedibeng to achieve their targets by providing clinical services and supervising various health-related activities. The ideal candidate will also support the tracking of laboratory results and supervise data collection activities to ensure accurate reporting.

    Key Duties and Responsibilities

    1. Clinical Services Support

    • Provide phlebotomy services by identifying clients eligible for viral load monitoring and collecting blood specimens for viral load testing.
    • Screen clients for various conditions including Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs), Tuberculosis (TB), Hypertension, and Diabetes, and refer them for symptomatic management where necessary.
    • Offer phlebotomy services for pre-ART patients (those starting HIV treatment), patients on Antiretroviral Therapy (ART), and those in follow-up care.

    2. Supervision of Healthcare Activities

    • Supervise the implementation of Anova’s APACE (Accelerating Program Achievements to Control the Epidemic) support activities in line with the 95-95-95 strategy.
    • Oversee the performance of counselors providing HIV case finding, linkage to care, and adherence club activities.
    • Supervise Internal Quality Control (IQC), Proficiency Testing (PT), and other facility-level Real-Time Continuous Quality Improvement (RTCQI) activities.

    3. Data Management

    • Supervise and perform monitoring activities, including updating patient registers, collecting statistics, and validating data.
    • Track laboratory results and ensure their appropriate distribution, capturing, and filing.
    • Ensure that data collection requirements are met and reports are submitted on time.

    Requirements

    To be considered for this exciting role, candidates must meet the following requirements:

    • Educational Requirements: Enrolled Nursing qualification.
    • Experience: A minimum of 3 years’ experience in enrolled nurse duties, specifically in HIV or public health environments.
    • Skills:
      • Strong data management and reporting abilities.
      • Computer literacy, particularly in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
      • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
      • Strong organizational and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data effectively.
    • Knowledge:
      • Comprehensive understanding of HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment strategies.
      • Familiarity with phlebotomy services, especially for HIV-positive patients.
