Key Responsibilities
The ER Consultant will:
- Provide assistance to employees and management by addressing queries and processing requests.
- Offer expert advice to management on resolving conflicts between employees.
- Collaborate on the development of HR, IR/ER labour protocols, operational procedures, and staff handbooks.
- Ensure that HR policies, regulations, and procedures are consistently applied across the organization.
- Assist employees and management in understanding and complying with policies and regulations.
- Investigate and chair disciplinary and grievance hearings to ensure procedural and substantive fairness.
- Counsel and guide employees to enhance morale and resolve work-related issues effectively.
- Represent the organization during disputes at the Commission for Conciliation, Mediation, and Arbitration (CCMA).
- Contribute to the creation and improvement of organizational policies and procedures.
- Promote compliance with health and safety standards.
Required Skills and Qualifications
To succeed in this role, candidates must possess the following:
- A Diploma or Degree in Human Resource Management or equivalent relevant experience in HR, IR/ER, and South African labour legislation.
- 1-2 years of experience with labour laws, Occupational Health and Safety (OHS), the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPI), and compliance regulations.
- Excellent command of English (written and spoken).
- Proficiency in negotiation and communication.
- Basic knowledge of South African labour laws and the CCMA processes.
- Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and analytical thinking.
- The ability to work under pressure, prioritize tasks effectively, and meet deadlines.
- A team-oriented approach while being capable of working independently with initiative.
