Eligibility Criteria and Required Qualifications
Essential Requirements:
To be considered for this position, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Educational Qualification: Grade 12 (NQF Level 4) or equivalent.
- Professional Certifications:
- Fire Fighter 1 & 2
- HAZMAT Awareness & Operations
- Experience: A minimum of one year of relevant experience in fire safety and compliance.
- Valid Motor Vehicle Driving License: Required to conduct inspections across various locations.
Preferred Qualifications and Experience:
Although not mandatory, the following will be an advantage:
- Higher Certificate in Fire Technology (NQF Level 5).
- Two years of relevant experience in fire inspection, code enforcement, or fire prevention.
Physical and Special Requirements
Given the nature of the job, the selected candidate must possess physical agility and be able to navigate uneven terrain when conducting inspections. Additionally, the applicant must meet the medical fitness requirements necessary for the role.
Candidates should also be prepared to:
- Successfully complete the departmental Fire Inspectors and Code Enforcement (NFPA1031) training course within six months of their appointment.
- Work outside of normal hours when necessary to conduct emergency inspections and compliance assessments.
- Attend training programs to stay updated on the latest fire safety regulations and prevention techniques.
